“Le Chant des Muses” is Anna Urpina’s second album, which is not only a musical exploration but also a tribute to history. The album focuses on the female composers of the Baroque period who have been overlooked, and through Anna’s years of research and discovery in libraries in Paris and Venice, it presents for the first time the works of 12 female composers from Italy, France, Spain, and England. It includes six previously unpublished sonatas, suites, dances, allegros, and arias that have been historically verified, as well as two works by contemporary female composers, Helena Cánovas Parés and Zulema de la Cruz Castillejo. This album is not only a rediscovery of the talents of female musicians but also a powerful challenge to gender bias in music history. Anna brings these works into the modern audience’s view with her exquisite playing skills and deep musical understanding, highlighting the important contributions of women in classical music.
